TOWN OF GAINESVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) - A Silver Springs man is behind bars following a traffic stop in the Town of Gainesville early Sunday morning.

Police say 46-year-old Michael Woodruff was stopped after being observed to be driving erratically on State Route 19 and Broughton Road. He refused to submit to field sobriety testing, and was then taken into custody for DWI.

Woodruff was taken to the Warsaw Police Department where he continued to refuse to submit to field sobriety testing. He was transported to the Wyoming County Community Hospital for a medical condition.

Woodruff was found to have four previous convictions for DWI. Two were misdemeanor while two were felony. He was charged with Felony DWI, Felony Driving with .08% BAC or Higher, Failure to Dim High Beams, and Drove to Left of Pavement Markings.

Upon his release from the hospital, he was taken to the Town of Middlebury Court where he was arraigned. He is currently being held without bail, and is scheduled to return to Town of Gainesville Court on June 17th.
