Amherst Police Investigate Attempted Abduction

AMHERST, NY ( WKBW / release ) Amherst Police detectives are investigating an incident which occurred Friday around 11:15am in the Sheridan Drive / Frankhauser Road area, where a man attempted to grab a woman while she was jogging.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Park Forest Drive, and Millbrook Road.

The victim, a 27 year old area resident, was jogging near the intersection. She was running on the sidewalk when she passed a car that was stopped at the intersection. When the woman passed the car, the lone occupant of the vehicle jumped out and told her to, "get back here" and attempted to grab her arm.

The woman began to run toward an open garage in the neighborhood, at which time the suspect chased her for a short distance.

The suspect then got back in his vehicle and fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a white male in his thirties, about 5 foot 10" to 6' tall with a heavy build. He has brown hair and was wearing a gray or light colored tee shirt and khaki pants.

The vehicle is described as a gold colored, older, boxy mid sized older vehicle in beat up condition.
