TOWN OF EAGLE, N.Y. (WKBW) - Following a one-car motor vehicle in the Town of Eagle Monday morning, a Nunda man was arrested for Felony DWI.
Police arrested 30-year-old Matthew Bernard after he drove his vehicle off the side of the road on State Route 39.
According to police, Bernard's vehicle drove into a lawn, severed a full sized pine tree, drove through a residential fence, and severed a utility pole before coming to a rest in an open field.
His vehicle was totaled and he suffered minor injuries. Bernard failed standardized field sobriety testing at the scene and was taken into custody for DWI. He was also found to have previous convictions for DWAI and DWI within the past 10 years.
Bernard was transported to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office where he was charged with Felony DWI, Felony Driving With .08% BAC or Higher, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, and Moved from Lane Unsafely.
He was taken to the Town of Eagle Court where he was arraigned and committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or bond. He is scheduled to return to Town of Eagle Court on June 24th.
