"Makeover" Family Member In Trouble With Police

BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) One of the teenage girls featured in the Buffalo edition of the"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" family is facing a felony assault charge.

Police tell Eyewitness News that 16 year old Deborah Powell of Buffalo was arrested Tuesday afternoon at around 1:30pm by Buffalo Police.

Powell is charged with: Assault and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Police say the incident happened Monday afternoon, January 31st, at around 3pm near Northampton and Fillmore Avenue.

It appears that Powell got out of a vehicle, approached the other female and then slashed her with a box cutter.

The 15 year old female victim was taken to ECMC where she was treated and released.

Her name is not being released because of her juvenile status.

The Powell family shot into the national spotlight when the ABC TV show built them a new home on Massachusetts Avenue.
