Make-A-Wish Makes Dreams Come True

Buffalo, September 16, 2012 ----- ( release ) Larry Norton and his team at 97 Rock just completed the 28 hour radio-thon to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Metro New York and Western New York. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Although final numbers are still being tallied, with calls still coming in, the annual fundraising event raised in excess of $ 150,000 through donations called in by listeners who could either request pay-per-play songs or bid on one-of-a-kind auction items such as autographed guitars, VIP sports packages or meet & greet experiences.

Long-time Make-A-Wish supporter Larry Norton was joined in the studio by local restaurateur Russell Salvatore; Buffalo Bill Rian Lindell; and WWE wrestler CM Punk. In addition, seven wish kids visited the studios to talk about their wish experiences and how much they meant to them and their families.

“We are so grateful to Larry and 97 Rock for their untiring efforts and ongoing commitment to help make wishes come true for children in our area,” said Tracy Gray, Regional Director of Development, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York and Western New York. “The level of support and excitement from members of our community is inspiring and impressive. Whether it’s our volunteers who manned the busy phones, the generous food donations we received for the on-site radio-thon team, or the loyal listeners of 97 Rock – we so appreciate everybody’s support and enthusiasm for our cause,” she added.

“I can’t believe that we were able to raise more money than last year,” said Larry Norton. “People of Western New York are always so generous. I’m so happy to be associated with such a great organization and hope that everybody will continue to support Make-A-Wish.”

The 97 Rock Make-A-Wish radio-thon is a perfect example of a caring community coming together to make a difference in the lives of children facing life-threatening medical conditions.
