Maid of the Mist President's Statement on Tuesday's Announcement

December 4, 2012 Updated Dec 5, 2012 at 2:37 PM EDT

(WKBW release) The following is a statement from Maid of the Mist Corporation President Christopher Glynn.

The statement reads:

My remarks are simple.

It boils down to this: Governro Cuomo has saved the Maid of the Mist.

She was in trouble, but he saved her.

We are profoundly thankful that he was there when it counted.

As many of you know, the Maid of the Mist has a great history that dates back to 1846. Our family has operated the company since 1971, and we've always tried to do ti in a way that respected tradtition.

Unfortunately, our ability to do that was jeopardized by an international process that was very unusual, to say the least. But we don't want to dewll on that. Instead, we want to focus on the future.

The Maid has a bright future thanks to the Governor.

He thought it was important for a local, family-owned company to continue in business at the Falls.

He was willing to go to bat for a New York company.

He and his people saw an opportunity to both preserve and enhance tradition at the Falls.

You've heard this mornign how facilities will be enhanced at the site, how we're going to transform a parcel that was in disrepair and make it available for recreational purposes.

Our company is proud to be associated with this effort. And we plan on making some very significant investments.

Again, all of this was possible because of the Governor and his senior staff, especially Mr. Howard Glaser.

I just don't have the words to express our gratitude for what the Governor and his people have done.

All I can say is this: Governor Cuomo has saved the Maid of the Mist! And we're all thrilled.

Thank you very much.
