BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - The whole concept of Just Pizza was made in Western New York in the early 1990s and now the pizza chain's retail line, most of which is also made in WNY, is becoming very popular with customers in Buffalo and beyond.
"Always the innovator, never the imitator," is the way Mark Campanella puts it. He's the vice president of marketing and franchise development at Just Pizza.
Since the pizzeria chain debuted in 1992, it has tried to stand out among other area pizzerias by offering 75 different types of pizza and dozens of chicken wing flavors. "All of our sauces, not only our signature pizza sauce, but all chicken wing sauces, we have over 25 varieties of chicken wing sauce, and our hoagie oil and sub oil is made right in Buffalo, right in South Buffalo by Pellicano Specialty Foods," Campanella said.
After requests from customers, Just Pizza unveiled a retail line that is sold at Tops, Dash's, Budwey's, Premier Gourmet, madeinbuffalo.com and more. A pre-mix is also sold in stores though it is made in the Albany area.
"The big thing is name branding," Campanella said. "Getting the name out there. Believe me, when someone buys this in the store, it doesn't take away from any of the business at the locations."
Just Pizza now has 11 locations in Western New York, with plans for more. "There is a lot of room for growth and expansion throughout Western New York, Batavia, Erie, PA, Rochester," he said. "There's a lot of room here."
