BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) The Buffalo Board of Education has a new President.
Louis Petrucci was sworn in Friday to begin his one year term.
Petrucci was voted in with a unanimous vote at a noon meeting Friday at Buffalo City Hall.
The Board President serves for one year, with the vote for a new president held every year on July 1st.
Petrucci takes office at a time when the embattled School Superintendent has one more year left before retiring, and the schools suffering from declining graduation rates.
In addition to the announcement of Petrucci, three Educational Partnership Organizations were selected for three of the 13 persistently low achieving schools.
The EPO for the Science Magnet school will be the Science Museum.
For School 33, the EOP will be First Hand Learning, a science based hand on learning organization that already partners with the school and has a strong community association.
The EPO for Lafayette High School will be Buffalo State College.
