CHEEKTOWAGA, NY (Business First) - Just a few months after opening its first area restaurant, LongHorn Steakhouse will be welcoming customers to its Cheektowaga location, starting January 14.
Officials from the steakhouse chain confirmed its Walden Avenue restaurant will be opening next Monday, coming just one month after its initial Buffalo Niagara region eatery opened in Orchard Park's Quaker Crossing plaza.
LongHorn is taking over a 7,464-square-foot former Borders bookstore, located across Walden Avenue from the Walden Galleria. Borders closed last year and the property has been eyed by a number of retailers and restaurant chains in the ensuing months.
The restaurant has a 240-person seating capacity and is expected to create as many as 100 full- and part-time jobs.
Orchard Park and Cheektowaga may not be the only area locations for LongHorn. Sources said real estate representatives for LongHorn continue to scout sites for possible Northtowns and Niagara County locations.
LongHorn is a division of Orlando-based Darden Restaurants Inc. The chain has more than 400 restaurants in 35 states including three in the Rochester area.
LongHorn is noted for its array for steaks, fresh seafood, chicken and ribs.
