NIAGARA COUNTY, NY (WKBW/Release) - Niagara County Sheriff James R. Voutour announced the arrest of Cheryl A. Wright, 50 of the Town of Lockport, on charges of Grand Larceny 3rd (Felony) and Falsely Reporting an Incident (Misdemeanor) in relation to two incidents in the Town of Lockport.

An investigation by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office and the Lockport Police Department revealed that Wright, who had been the Secretary for the Lockport Bowling Boosters Club, stole over $5,000.00 from the fund that was used to pay for items including trophies and award banquets associated with the Lockport High School Bowling team.

At the time that the Bowling Boosters Club was reporting the loss of those funds to Lockport Police Department, Wright was in the process of filing a burglary report with Niagara County Sheriff's Office in which she was reporting that $4,000.00 in cash had been stolen from her house.

The investigation revealed that the reported burglary did not occur and was an attempt to cover up the theft of the Bowling Boosters money.

Wright was arraigned in Lockport Town Court on the above charges, was released on her own recognizance and faces a court date in Town Court on December 13, 2012.
