Lockport Larceny Suspect Arrested After Returning to Crime Scene

On Saturday, August 31, 2013, while conducting a follow-up investigation into numerous larcenies at Rite Aid, 6616 Lincoln Avenue, Town of Lockport, the suspect from the previous larcenies came back to the store and began to run from the scene when approached by Deputies. The suspect was pursued and refused to stop, and as a result, a Taser was utilized to take him into custody.

The suspect, 31-year-old Jason L. Benedict, was subsequently charged with the following crimes: Grand Larceny 4th, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd. The investigation revealed that Benedict was involved in at least five incidents where products had been stolen from Rite Aid and the total retail value of the items was approximately $1,500.00.

Benedict was arraigned in front of Lockport Town Justice Schilling and bail was set at $1,000.00. He faces a future court date in the Town of Lockport Court.
