Locals Come Together to Rebuild Houghton Park

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Locals opening up their wallets to help clean-up Houghton Park after it was vandalized at the end of August to the tune of more than $30,000.

Police have charged four young men between 17 and 20 years old with a number of charges including arson.

The men are accused of damaging shelters, benches, and grills.

Community members came together Sunday to host a fundraiser at the Bowl Inn to purchase surveillance equipment for the East Side Park to prevent further vandalism incidents.

Mayor Brown and local businesses also coming to the plate, pledging thousands of dollars to cover the costs of the many improvements needed including the picnic shelter and benches that were destroyed during the time of the crime.
