It was an exciting day, not only in England, but also all over the world, including right here in Western New York.
At Buffalo State College, people of all ages, men and women said they were awed by the hats, the dress and Will and Kate's first kiss.
"It was interested I got caught up in it as soon as I got up it was fun," Royal Wedding Watcher Steve Carnay said.
That was the sentiment of many people right here in Buffalo after watching the Royal Wedding unfold National Television.
"You can tell they are really in love with each other. When she first got to the alter he said you look beautiful," Royal Wedding Watcher Beth Hymiak said.
Carol Darstein said it is true love.
"They looked so happy yet normal. I don't know how else to say it. They looked like any other couple really in love and they couldn't wait to get married. She looked so gorgeous," Darstein said.
Although it was a fairytale, many people said that the couple seems more grounded than other in the Monarch. People also compared the wedding to that of Prince William's mother and father, the late Princess Diana and Prince Charles.
"She looked so frightened and out of place, almost like she wanted to over. But Kate and Will look grown up, like they know what they're doing and it was really nice that way," Darstein said.
Carnay said it was just the right touch of elegance and class.
"It was more subdued than I thought. I think that was done purposely, to kind of low key it. The lavish Diana wedding did go so well so with it being more low key it will have better results," Carnay said.
But others who watched, including Josh Kassen, had some questions.
"It looked really good but overall I don't understand people's total obsession with it and why it matters so much especially in America," Kassen said.
The answer from many was that the wedding was history in the making. More importantly, they said it is something positive not only for England but the world.
"Will and Kate and the Royal family feel like the country needs something uplifting and they have a big responsibility," Royal Wedding Watcher Rita Zietek said.
Mike Bonfante agrees.
"It's a good thing. It's a time when we could look to something positive and happy it was fun to see," Bonfante said.
Patty Belknap said the couple is part of a new generation that will make some positive changes.
"I think they're great for England. I really think they will change the world," Belknap said.
