The skeletons of four women were found on a deserted long beach six weeks ago. Now, the bodies have been identified and authorities said their deaths are connected. Authorities said all the women were exotic dancers and escorts advertising their services on Craigslist.

Among those found dead was Melissa Barthelemy, 24, originally from Buffalo. She moved to New York City four years ago and was working as an escort. She disappeared in July of 2009. The other three women also went missing in the passed four years. Police said their deaths were a direct result of their involvement with prostitution on Craigslist.

"What activities these victims may have engaged in prior to their murders does not matter. They were young women whose lives were cut tragically short," Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer said.

Police said the women were all in the twenties. Their bodies found on the same stretch of beach in Suffolk County. Police said they were killed in another location then, dumped on the beach.

Barthelemy still has family in the Western New York area but there is no word yet about funeral arrangements.
