Niagara Falls, NY (WKBW) Shanie McCowen of Lewiston had an idea while watching news coverage of New York state's Marriage Equality Act, "It was like a light bulb.", says McCowen.
She quickly launched "Rainbow Bells", a wedding planning service that caters to same-sex couples who want to get married in the "Honeymoon Capitol of the World." The first Rainbow Bells event was a success and now McCowen is working on three more weddings with couples from outside of New York state. "People have been very responsive. It's refreshing to come up with an idea where people have jumped on board and agreed the idea was good...everybody has been so helpful.", says McCowen. McCowen started the company with her own money and is hoping to expand with the help of a local investor.
