BUFFALO, N.Y. ( WKBW ) 17 year old Vance Stinson, a senior at DaVinci High School in Buffalo, entered a contest through Oprah's website for a chance to win an all expense paid trip to the launch event of Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation which will provide resources for people who are bullied.

Stinson had to explain in just 500 characters why he should represent his school at the kick-off event which was held at Harvard University.

After receiving his submission one of Oprah's producers called Stinson and interviewed him but he didn't hear anything back for three weeks.

Then on Monday when he came to school, Oprah's producers and staff were there and told him to pack his bags because he won the contest and was headed to the launch event in Boston.

Here's what Stinson had to say about what he wrote to win the contest,

"I just talked about what I'm passionate about, that I want a safe school, I want anti-bullying, I want teachers involved, I want students involved. I think we can really make the world a better place and I basically talked about my desire for it to be like DaVinci everywhere."

Stinson flew out with his step-mother on Tuesday and attended the event on Wednesday. He met Lady Gaga, her mother, and Oprah.

A segment featuring Stinson will be featured on the Oprah network. Details have not been released.
