Lockport, NY
The nation's very first drive in move theatre opened up in New Jersey 1933 and at the height of it's success there were more than 3775 drive in theatres across the nation now there are less than 400. The Transit Drive-In theatre in Lockport is one of the surviving few.

The theatre opened up for the season for weekends only on Friday night and the cars piled in some driving from miles away.

With four mega screens and the comforts of your own car many would argue that this old-time tradition beats those newer technologies like net-flix, DVR, or even traditional movie theatres.

The average cost of going to a regular move in a theatre is about $10 but at the drive-in you get to see two*movies for $8.

Despite its old-time glory the drive-in movie theatre is still in decline. There are less than 30 left in New York State.
