BUFFALO (WKBW) We've known it for years. But on Saturday night, the honor became official as Channel 7's own Linda Pelligrino became the newest member of the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
"It is still to this day a privilege for me to do what I do, and I hope to be doing it for a good long time, so thank you. Thank you to the broadcasters tonight, thank you to everybody," she said during her speech.
Linda joined six others receiving honors at the WNED studios Downtown. Alongside her husband and Channel 7 family, the longtime AM Buffalo host was honored for her work in shaping Western New York television.
"To have been honored by this entire room full of people that I so respect, it is a thrill of a lifetime," she said afterwards.
Linda has been through quite a lot to get to Saturday night. Starting in 1986 as a weathercaster, onto AM Buffalo where she has interviewed her share of Buffalo royalty, and gotten close with national celebs as well. She also took viewers along with her as she fought and beat breast cancer.
All those things and more were on her mind during the ceremony.
"So it is kind of a completion of everything that I've always wanted to do. I wanted to get up and entertain people, tell them what's going on, and let them feel like they're part of my family. And they've given that back to me a thousand fold."
So now that she has her shiny new plaque and her name up on the wall as a member of the Hall of Fame, is anything going to change?
"No, actually I think they asked me to come in even earlier on Monday, so I'll be back," Linda said with a laugh.
