Rochester, N.Y.--( 13WHAM.com ) Brandon Johnson should have been on his way home to see family Friday. Instead, his life was abruptly ended when the Niagara University student was shot to death at an off-campus apartment.

"It's shocking at this point. Our whole family is devastated," said Petrina Johnson, Brandon's sister.

Johnson was watching a movie with friends Thursday night. Police say 17-year-old Gordon Jackson fired one shot at Johnson, killing him in an attempted robbery.

"When I finally heard something about it, I lost it because that was family, that was my brother," said Bradford Johnson, Brandon's brother.

Gordon Jackson and 23-year-old Cordero Gibson have been arrested and charged in connection with the crime.

When asked if there was any sign of trouble, or that Brandon had been involved with anyone who may want to hurt him, both siblings said there was not.

"No, we don't know, we don't know the friends that he was hanging out with at that house," said Petrina Johnson.

The Johnsons are trying to find out more facts from police while they continue grieving.
