ALLEGANY, NY (WKBW) -Many children dream of being an astronaut, blasting into space and discovering uncharted territory. Now one local learning center is giving children in Western New York a chance to do just that though a virtual mission to space. The Dresser-Rand Challenger Learning Center, located in Allegany, says it uses space exploration as a theme to create positive learning experiences to help raise a student's expectation of success. The center is aimed at promoting science, technology, engineering and math education through a hands-on simulation of space exploration

"We are taking robots and all types of activities and applying what they learned in the classroom to real life situations," said Director Tom Moser "We use space as our hook to get them interested in doing this mission, but we also point out what types of jobs and skills they can use in the real world."
