BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- Carl Paladino has gone from underdog to possible spoiler in Tuesday's Primary Election.

The Buffalo businessman is in a statistical tie with Rick Lazio in the Republican Primary for New York Governor.

43 percent of voters pick Lazio, while 42 percent support Paladino, according to the most recent Siena poll. 15 percent remain undecided.

Lazio spent Monday morning campaigning on Long Island, greeting morning commuters on their way to work.

"I think it just says you have to earn it every single day so that's what I've been doing all these many weeks and certainly over the last couple of days," Lazio said when asked about the poll in a satellite interview with Eyewitness News.

Paladino held rallies in Rochester, Niagara Falls and Buffalo, where 300 people gathered for a rally in Cazenovia Park.

"The people, as they engage -- they hear our message and they engage almost 100 percent with us," said Paladino.

Polls open at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and close at 9 p.m.
