The woman who allegedly placed an ad on Craigslist for a single man, and allegedly got a response from a married and shirtless Congressman Chris Lee... is speaking out.

Eyewitness News spoke with Remy Stern, the Editor in Chief of Gawker.com - the tabloid website that broke the story. He talked about the woman involved in the scandal, and offered his insight on who she is and why she decided to leak the story.

The woman does not want her name released at this time, but we do know that she is a 33-year-old government worker from Maryland. She said she came forward because she was upset with Lee for lying to her. Reports say that Lee told the woman that he was a 39-year-old, divorced lobbyist. The woman also said she received shirtless photos from Lee.

When the woman began doing research and put his name into the computer, she easily found more information and the truth. Lee was, in fact, a married congressman in his forties.

"She had this back and forth with him and realized he wasn't who he said he was. He wasn't a divorced 39-year-old lobbyist. She is a reader of Gawker.com, and thought this is something that we would find amusing interesting and sent it along," Stern said.

Stern also said that the woman was not politically motivated in releasing the story. Both Stern and the woman admit they did not realize that this story would make headlines across the country.

Stern said Gawker.com did their homework. They linked the email address Lee used to his Facebook account and Blackberry. When this story broke, Lee's Facebook page was taken down just minutes later.
