HAMBURG, NY (WKBW) People celebrate Christmas Eve in a variety of ways, including with loved ones, family or friends...or they celebrate with hundreds of complete strangers at malls and shopping centers across Western New York.

Shopping bags, full arms, and plenty of cash were the common sights at the McKinley Mall in Hamburg. Saturday was one of the biggest shopping days of the year, the day before Christmas, as shoppers waited until the very last minute to buy some holiday gifts.

Shoppers said it was "just in case," for a variety of family members or friends, or in some cases, to take care of their entire shopping list.

Those who did venture out to stores were treated to packed parking lots and crowds, but also caught some bargains and sales

But why wait until Christmas Eve to do your shopping? What about the other 363 days?

One shopper had a simple answer, "it's a guy thing."
