BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) It was a controversial evening at the Buffalo School Board meeting on Wednesday night.
A late night appointment by Buffalo School Superintendent Dr. Pamela Brown has left many members on the board upset.
Brown decided late last night to appoint ousted consultant Dr. Mary Giunn as Interim Deputy Superintendent.
“At this point in time, she is the person who can come into this district and have a quick and effective start at doing what needs to be done,” said Brown.
Despite making the announcement at the end of the meeting, Brown says she was being transparent.
“I used the same process for this announcement that has been used by all my predecessors,” said Brown. “I did take a period of time to continue the search for a Deputy Superintendent, and in fact that has been an on-going process for a long time.”
Board members were divided on the subject. Some approved and others did not.
Despite the disapproval, Brown pushed on. She says she reviewed many resumes and eventually decided Guinn was the woman for the job.
“We need someone with Dr. Giunns great leadership ability and experience,” said Brown.
