John Benbenek and Ryan Vedder were having lunch at work that they ordered from Taffy's when John pulled a fry from his basket stretching nearly 34 inches long.
His co-worker and friend Ryan Vedder suggested they call Guinness Book of World Records to see if this is something special. And it turned out to be so. The previous owner of the title was a french fry stretching 24 inches from an Arby's in South Carolina.
Benbenek is preserving the fry in his freezer and says his girlfriend is keeping a close eye on the potato.
"The fry is actually in my freezer being preserved under lock and key," says Benbenek. "I actually have my fiancee looking after it every hour.'
John and Ryan will be guests on Good Morning Western New York Thursday morning. Make sure to tune in from 5-7am on Channel 7.
The two will be featured on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday night. They will also have their names published in the 2011 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records along with the 2011 copy of Ripley's Believe It or Not.
If you are interested in purchasing the worlds longest fry it is for sale. You can find listed on eBay.
