Lancaster Man in critical condition after Hit and Run

Lancaster, NY (WKBW) -- 71 year old Paul Ostermeier was walking along Stutzman Road when a driver in the wrong lane lost control. Several firefighters and police officers live nearby and quickly gave Ostermeier first aid before he was taken to ECMC.

Police say 52 year old David Waldroff took off after hitting Ostermeier. He was arrested in a nearby school parking lot a short time later. Eyewitness News talked with a woman who says she is the suspect's sister. She wants to apologize to the family of Paul Ostermeier. believing Waldroff was on drugs at the time of the accident and should stay behind bars.

Waldroff is back in court Friday. He's being held in the Erie County Holding Center for now in lieu of ten thousand dollars bail. Ostermeier's family declined to talk today. He is in critical condition at ECMC.
