Kenmore, NY (WKBW) The Ken-Ton Union Free School District is celebrating the nomination of one of its teachers for the Music Educator Award at the 2015 Grammy Awards.

Phil Aguglia is the band director at Kenmore East High School. He was one of 7,000 teachers initially nominated for a Grammy. Wednesday, the Aguglia and the district learned that he advanced to the quarterfinals. Only 222 music teachers advanced.

The inaugural Music Educator Award was presented last year to a fellow Western New Yorker, Kent Knappenberger of Westfield Central Schools. The award is given to kindergarten through collegiate-level educators who have made a significant contribution and commitment to music education.
