BUFFALO (WKBW) Just after 11:30 on Sunday morning, Luna and Kali the polar bears made a special appearance together in front of a Sunday morning crowd at the Buffalo Zoo.
"Coolest thing you could see in Buffalo probably today," Eric Smith of Hamburg said.
Luna has been on display at the zoo for a few weeks now, with Kali remaining behind closed doors for the most part as the cubs get used to each other. The two are scheduled to be introduced to the public on Monday, but they were still able to squeeze in a little polar bear playtime in before then, splashing around in their pool and chasing each other around the enclosure.
"It's really nice that we get to have something like that here at our Buffalo Zoo and it's really going to help build up the city I think, and bring some excitement," Sarah Garis of West Seneca said.
But not everyone in the crowd just liked looking at the bears. Two of the smaller fans decided they should try to help them stay in here Buffalo.
"Well we wanted to help the polar bears, and we really like polar bears," young Adelaide Lenz of Amherst said.
So Adelaide and her brother Jack set up a lemonade stand, making over 35 dollars they donated to the fund to build a new polar bear habitat.
"It's fun to see baby polar bears grow up. And then you could see them when they're all grown up and they can be with the other big polar bears," Adelaide said.
"I think it would be really cool for the people at Buffalo to see the polar bears and stuff and we should keep them here," Jack added.
Both bears will make their official public debut on Monday at the zoo..
