After 30 separate negotiation sessions, labor unions 199SEIU, CWA 1168, and IUOE 17 voted 97 percent to authorize a strike if the unions can't come to an agreement on a contract with Kaleida Health.

More than five thousand workers voted Wednesday, the final day of a three day vote to strike which would affect 7500 workers.

The two sides have not been able to reach an agreement on staffing levels, wages, pensions and health benefits.

The workers' contract expires on June 21, 2013. If no agreement is reached by then the unions must give Kaleida Health a 10 day notice before walking off the job.

A spokesperson for Kaleida Health calls the vote to strike "extremely premature."
