Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - Jury selection continued Tuesday in the trial of an Orchard Park man accused of killing his wife. Muzzamil Hassan, is accused of beheading is wife Aasiya in February of 2009 inside Bridges TV located in Orchard Park. The couple ran the television station together. Following thorough questions by prosecutors and Hassan's defense attorney, 7 jurors were selected for the trial Tuesday.
"I've never had a problem finding a fair jury in Erie County. Every jury that I've been a part of selecting in Erie County has been fair to me and my clients," said Hassan's Attorney Jeremy Schwartz. "But Because of the unique nature of this case and the publicity, that's my concern with this panel."
Prosecutors did not comment following today's jury selection. Selection will resume Wednesday Morning, when a panel of 100 potential jurors will be interviewed and questioned. Opening statements could begin next week in the case.
