What are "friends" for? Apparently to get out of jury duty.

According to the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune, a Florida man who was dismissed from a civil trial jury last year after attempting to "friend" the defendant on Facebook could face jail time because he reportedly did it on purpose in order to get out of jury duty.

The man is facing a criminal contempt of court charge and has a hearing later this month with the judge who dismissed him, according to the Herald-Tribune.
