AMHERST, NY (WKBW/Buffalo Junior Sabres Hockey Press Release) - It might seem strange to think about hockey in the middle of August, but the Buffalo Junior Sabres Jr. A hockey club is beginning preparations for the 2012-13 season. On Monday, August 13, the team will open its 2012 Training Camp at the Northtown Center at Amherst, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive (between Maple Road and Millersport Highway).

The first practice runs from 11:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Former Buffalo Sabres captain Michael Peca, is now the Jr. Sabres' Head Coach and General Manager.

The Jr. Sabres' Ontario Junior Hockey League regular season begins on Sunday, September 9.

The Buffalo Junior Sabres, founded in 1975, develops elite players ages 16-20 for consideration by high level hockey programs, most notably NCAA college hockey. Last season's squad produced two players who will enroll at NCAA Division III programs this fall and three players who are committing to NCAA Division I programs beginning with academic year 2013-14.
