LEWISTON, NY (WKBW) - A woman in her thirties is recovering at ECMC after being pulled from the Niagara River by a jet boat Monday afternoon.

New York State Parks Police tell Eyewitness News that the woman and her fiance were walking along the river near Whirlpool State Park around 12:45 p.m. Monday.

The pair wandered from the marked trail, and the woman attempted to touch the water when she slipped and fell in the river.

The rapids quickly rushed her down river, where a nearby jet boat from Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours was conducting a tour. The crew of that boat, who are all trained for rescue situations, threw out a line to woman and were eventually able to pull her on board.

The victim was unconscious, however the boat crew with the help of some trained passengers were able to perform CPR and get a pulse.

She was rushed by boat to Lewiston and taken to St. Mary's Hospital, then flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC where she is recovering. Her condition is unknown at this time.
