Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) - The Occupy Buffalo protesters have been peaceful in Niagara Square and the city is lending its support. One occupy protester said the reason for the support from the city and its residents is because the people get the message. He said they are among the 99 percent of the people that the protesters are backing.
They also said that they are not going anywhere even with the cold weather just around the corner. They are already making preparations for the cold and snow. They have been relying on donations of food and clothes the entire two months that they have been in the square. Now, people and unions in the area said they are buying and donating thermal sleeping bag to the cause.
Mayor Byron Brown said he has no plans to evict the demonstrators. Police have also been working with them.
"They have followed the rules and laws of the city of Buffalo, they have worked with our division of special events, so we have seen very few problems at this point," Mayor Brown said.
The Occupy Buffalo Protesters are so grateful to the city and its police department, they participated in "Officer Appreciation Day|". The group marched holding signs thanking law enforcement for their peaceful service.
The protesters said they are planning to brave the entire winter, standing for a cause, despite the threat of a harsh season.
