Calm Morning After Windy Night

HAMBURG, NY ( WKBW ) After a windy Tuesday night that shut down a short portion of Route 5 between Camp and Big Tree, traffic conditions returned to near normal Wednesday morning.

Lighter winds and Lake Erie waves are still evident on the stretch of road known as the "car wash," making for a wet commute.

However conditions are nothing like they were Tuesday night when wind caused multiple problems and power outages across the region.

Eyewitness News cameras captured images of a tree branch that fell on a car in South Buffalo, sending the driver to the hospital with minor injuries.

In the Southern Tier, fire crews blamed the wind and downed power lines for a house fire.

In downtown Buffalo, garbage cans and other outdoor items were blown about city streets.
