Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) – The name of the Allentown bar is “Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar”- but it is the initials DBGB that has a Manhattan chef up in arms.

Chef Daniel Boulud is suing the owner of the Buffalo bar claiming he has the rights to the DBGB name. Boulud opened a business called “DBGB Kitchen and Bar” in New York City in 2009. Now, he is taking the lawsuit to a federal level. He claims the owners of the Allentown bar agreed to stop using the name in 2010 but never did.

Those owners have not commented much on the issue because it is the lawsuit is pending. Now, loyal patrons are speaking out in their defense.

“This is a great place and I think the lawsuit is crazy. This is a great place to come and listen to different kinds of music. Great community and really good for everyone up and coming in the DJ scene and to hear something different,” patron Kiki Bryant said.

Patrons said Boulud’s bar is miles away from Buffalo and serves a completely different type of food in a swanky atmosphere. DBGB here in Buffalo serves pub food and is more like a sports bar.

On their website, the owners of the local business deny having any affiliation to the New York City restaurant. That’s not enough for Boulud, he is taking the claim to federal court.
