NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW - Niagara Gazette ) A hotel clerk at the American’s Best Value Inn on Niagara Falls Boulevard is under arrest.

Police said he allowed a 12-year-old girl to walk in, pay for, and rent a room.

Police said the young girl rented the room back on April 14th. Detectives found out about it while searching the hotel for a reported missing child. They then broke up the party, called parents, and arrested the clerk last week. That man is 21-year old Brandon Montanari.

While police said they don’t see a lot of 12-year-olds renting rooms, they do see older teenagers getting away with it.

Police and lawmakers have targeted some of the smaller hotels on the same strip accusing them of being havens for underage parties, drugs and attracting sex offenders.

“You have this undesirable element people are very concerned about, and how these people are getting into these motels. Maybe it's a single parent with a couple of kids and they're looking to do a vacation, and they go into one of these hotels on the boulevard. They don't realize that there could be one of these people right next door to them,” Senator George Maziarz said.

State Senator George Maziarz has been pushing local motel owners to step up their security since 2010. He has also asked owners to be more selective about who they allow to rent out rooms.

As for this specific case, the clerk is facing charges of endangering the welfare of a child. He is no longer employed at the hotel.
