TOWN OF BRANT, N.Y. ( WKBW ) Will the recent big chill hurt plants and crops? Channel 7's Jaclyn Asztalos reported from a farm in the Town of Brant Tuesday morning, as farmers look to protect any crops that got an early start with the recent warm weather.

Immediate lakeshore areas may experience freezing temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday.

This, after an extended stretch of unprecedented warmth over the past two weeks brought many plants and trees to bloom across the region.
This early budding, especially with fruit trees, means plants are very vulnerable to freezing conditions.

Temperatures this cold will likely cause severe damage to the early vegetative growth. Some vegetation may be killed if precautions are not taken.
