Niagara Falls, NY (WKBW) -- The discovery of an additional body parts gives police more insight into Loretta Jo Gates' death.

More remains belonging to Gates were found in a bag, floating in a pond in Hyde Park on Sunday.

However, the new evidence has not produced new leads yet.

Loretta Gates' father, Arthur, gave an emotional plea for anyone with information to come forward, saying "the smallest little detail -- someone she hung around, someone she went with, just call."

He adds "why are you protecting somebody as bad as this? You don't want it to be your daughter, your son, you grandkid."

Loretta was staying with her mother at an apartment complex in Niagara Falls.

Police say she went across the street to the grocery store and was last seen at the corner of Main Street and Niagara Avenue, a little after midnight the morning of August 26th.

Investigators believe Loretta was murdered within a day or two.

Since then, Loretta's body parts have been found scattered around Niagara Falls.

August 29th, her torso was found in the lower Niagara River.

Lat Friday, a partial leg and partial arm were found in the whirlpool rapids. Those body parts are at a lab in Erie County for DNA analysis. The results are not expected to come in for a few days.

Sunday, a bag with a part of an arm and a hand were found in a waterway at Hyde Park.

William Jeffords, who grew up and is friends with Loretta, cannot imagine why anyone would want to hurt her. He tells Eyewitness News "She was a good mom, a great mom. She definitely didn't deserve anything like this at all. Personally I just wish I knew who did it."

As the investigation continues, a community remains on edge, wondering who could have committed such a horrific crime.

The Niagara Falls Police Department wants anyone with information to call them at 286-4553 or 286-4711.
