BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) - Buffalo resident Myra Castleberry plead not guilty in court Thursday afternoon. Castleberry is accused of stealing a 35-year-old man's wallet in Buffalo's Allentown neighborhood back on July 22.
During court, Castleberry's attorney Laura El-Bahtity said she believes this is a case based solely on identification.
"My client was picked out of a single photo that was shown to the complainant one photo and that was at least a month and a half after the alleged incident," said El-Bahtity in front of Judge Penny Wolfgang.
Castleberry is no stranger to court system. She has 59 prior misdemeanor arrests and 6 felony convictions. Castleberry has been arrested for "hugging" or distracting intoxicated men in the city's entertainment district and then picking their pockets.
If convicted Castleberry faces a maximum sentence of 2 to 4 years behind bars. She is expected back in court at a later date.
