BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) Longer lines at airport security screenings and four-hour delays at the border to Canada will be a reality for Western New Yorkers if Congress fails to strike a deal before major federal cuts take place on Friday.

Congressman Brian Higgins (D-Buffalo) sounded the alarm Tuesday, telling Eyewitness News that civilian workers at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station will be furloughed, along with FAA workers at both local airports.

Congressional Republicans and The White House said it is likely the federal cuts totaling $85 billion, known as the sequester, will take place.
