A vacant Niagara Falls building that once housed Moore Business Forms is being eyed as the site of new hotel.
That, and another Cataract City hotel is due for a major face lift.
Indian Ocean LLC, a company run by local hotelier B.F. Patel, is working with the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency on renovating the three-story former Moore Business Forms office - at the intersection of Buffalo Avenue and John Daly Boulevard (Quay Street) - into a 95-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel. The project carries a $6.65 million development price tag.
The NCIDA is expected, on Wednesday, to accept Indian Ocean LLC's application for assistance, a process that begins a formal review.
If approved, the renovation work will start later this year and the hotel will make its debut in the summer 2014.
Also on the NCIDA's docket, is a proposal to accept an application for assistance from the Maid of the Mist Hospitality LLC, which wants to invest $4 million to renovate the Comfort Inn The Pointe hotel in Niagara Falls. The renovations are planned for later this winter.
The agency is expected to formally vote on each incentive package in March.
Other projects seeking abatement packages from the NCIDA include:
• Geise Properties LLC, which wants to spend $200,000 to renovate Old City Hall in Lockport. The site is being leased to the Flight of Five Winery as well as other food and tourism-based retail operations.
• Hydraulic Race Co., operators of the Lockport Cave and Underground Boat ride in Lockport, is proposing to invest $104,300 to construct a 1,136-square-foot visitor's center by its main dock just off of Gooding Street.
Both the Geise Properties and Hydraulic Race packages will also be formally considered during next month's meeting.
