A report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics says that homicide no longer ranks among the 15 leading causes of death in the U.S., according to a USA Today story.
The report studied 2010 deaths, according to USA Today, and showed that of the 2.4 million deaths in 2010, 16,065 were homicides. Heart disease and cancer combined to account for 47 percent of all deaths in 2010, according to the report.
