AMHERST, NY (WKBW-TV) - The Christmas spirit is in the air at area malls and stores. Lights, Christmas Trees, presents and wreaths decorate the walls and display cases as customers browse their shelves.
Stores are looking to get a jump start on the holiday shopping season as a lagging economy may keep consumers from spending what they normally do.
"I have three kids in college," said Jackie Davis of Lockport. "There present is tuition for next semester."
Kim Geraci of Kenmore said "everybody is feeling the financial crunch and we are all feeling it in all ways but this year we'll probably spend a little less but we're just going to be blessed being with our family."
If you are looking to get into the holiday spirit, there are 51 shopping days left.
