Thanksgiving is just one week away and
the National Retail Federation (NRF) says there is a pent up demand for holiday shopping. That's because Thanksgiving is so late this year.
For the first time since 2002, Thanksgiving falls as late as possible on the calendar. So researchers say eager holiday shoppers are ready and mapping their shopping strategies for the holiday weekend.
The NRF says up to 140 million people plan to shop over the four day Thanksgiving weekend, that's down from 147 million last year.
With all the hype about shopping on turkey day, the NRF asked people about Thanksgiving plans, for the first time ever in their annual survey this year.
Here's what they found: About 24% of consumers plan to shop on Thanksgiving day. That's 33 million shoppers. 70% of them did shop on Thanksgiving last year.
69% plan to shop on Black Friday. 44% will shop on Small Business Saturday and 24% will shop on Sunday.
Expect to see a lot more online ads in the next few days promoting Thanksgiving weekend bargains.
