BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - It's no day at the beach for sea lions at the Buffalo Zoo.

"Dallas and Pocus had very little training so we worked with them," Sea Lion Trainer Lynn Hougle said.

Now, they're experts at tricks and are working for their food by getting cuddly with patrons who visit the zoo.

"We started doing holiday kisses a couple years ago and since we thought it would be cute to put him under the mistletoe," Hougle said.

Under the mistletoe is where Channel 7's Jaclyn Asztalos and Vinnie Scozzafava got a sweet or shall we say fishy kiss. For the next three weekends, the public can get six hundred pounds of sea lion love from Pocus.

A kiss from the cute creatures costs just $20 and all the money goes toward caring for the sea lions.

"It's ages six and over because sometimes the real little kids get a afraid when a huge 600 pound animal comes flying at them," Hougle said.

Trainer Lynn Hougle said although the sea lions are big in size, they're unexpectedly gentle. Pocus will even hold the pose until you get a good photo. How do these animals learn to do these tricks? Hougle said it's all about the bond.

"Having a good rapport with your animals. Dallas and Pocus trust their trainers and they know we're not going to do anything to hurt them," Hougle said.

Hougle said it's nothing but love in the sea lion exhibit and there is enough to go around.
