Gusty winds in excess of 60 mph in spots caused damage to trees, power lines, and tractor trailers. High winds have been pummeling the area since Saturday.

Several trees were reported knocked down from high winds in Portland and Westfield in Chautauqua County. Power lines were also reported down in those two towns and at Bemus Point.

Snow and hail added to the mix, making it feel more like October or November than mid-April.

Eyewitness News spoke to several people who braved the winds and weather. Mostly all agreed that Spring can easily trick people, that it was far too cold for the current time of year, and that this is another example of the enigma of Buffalo weather.
