BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Heavy winds were causing trees to go down from Grand Island to Elma bringing power lines with them.

"There was a big boom and the lights went out," Resident Judy Grucella said.

In Elma off Clinton Street, the lines were broken. Part of the electrical line was hanging above the road, the other on the wet ground. This had Grucella concerned.

"The line was handing over the street and this is a very busy road. Trucks are always going through here so I didn't want them to take down a pole," Grucella said.

Clean up crews were on the scene at West River and Love Road in Grand Island but no one lost power.

As the wind brought power lines to the ground, it also quickly moved clouds up in the sky. In one direction the sky was dark and dreary, in another direction it was crystal blue.

As for Grucella, she said this isn't the first time something like this happened near her home.

"There's always a lot of action on this corner," Grucella said.
