Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - Progress towards redeveloping Buffalo's Waterfront takes a step forward. Congressman Brian Higgins is urging a prime piece of land to be sold at a bargain basement price.

Higgins is urging the NFTA to transfer its 384 acres of land on the Outer Harbor to the Erie Canal Development Corporation for just two dollars.

Higgins says the Outer Harbor cannot stay the way it is right now. He says the land is a prime opportunity for money to come into the Queen City.

Right now, three out of the four buildings on this land owned by the NFTA are vacant. The only building currently occupied is Dug's Dive.

Higgins says a land transfer for two dollars is fair because that's the price that the NFTA bought it for.

Per an NFTA report, $30 million will be needed to fix up the Outer Harbor. Due to that high price, Higgins says the land needs to be in the hands of someone willing to invest.
