BUFFALO, NY (WKBW)- Millions of dollars are being pumped into Buffalo's Outer Harbor, transforming a once dormant spot into a thriving place for the public. Congressman Brian Higgins joined construction crews to announce ongoing progress on 3 projects totaling $4.2 million.

The latest projects include:

-Creating the Tift Street Pier right next to Gallagher Beach.

-Finishing work on the Industrial Heritage Trail, north of Ohio Street and Fuhrmann Boulevard.

-Lake Kirsty Pier inside the Tift Nature Preserve. (Already open to the public)

In just the past 3 years, $124 million has been funneled into the area to help encourage more pedestrian traffic. Construction on the Industrial Heritage Trail is expected to be complete by the end of July. Workers expect to wrap up work on the Tift Street Pier in October.
